Comparing Lord of the Flies to Hitler's Regime and the Holocaust by Maria Langstaff. Characters and situations in Lord of the Flies have many similarities to Hitler's Nazi regime and the persecution of the Jews which led to the Holocaust.

Comparing Lord of the Flies to Hitler's Regime and the Holocaust from observantabetto61, Issuu. Connections between Nazism and the Lord of the Flies. YouTube video, 2:37 min. Uploaded on Oct 5, 2008 by Onawa Powell through Professor Rev. Dr. James Kenneth Powell II, opensourcebuddhism.org. "In this work, we see connections between various types of 'mobbing': from the bully Jack to Hitler, humans seem to stack up to insecure bullies picking on the different, and inciting other insecure sub-bullies to make it happen overall. Thankfully, there are types like Simon and Wallenberg who restore our faith in the capacity of at least some heroic individuals to overcome adversity."

Essays: Lord of the Flies by Peter Brook - on the filming of Lord of the Flies. "In the film, no one can attribute the looks and gestures to tricks of direction. The violent gestures, the look of greed, and the faces of experience are all real."

Peter Brook: Lord of the Flies from the Criterion Collection. "In the hands of the renowned experimental theater director Peter Brook, William Golding's legendary novel about the primitivism lurking beneath civilization becomes a film as raw and ragged as the lost boys at its center. Taking an innovative documentary-like approach, Brook shot Lord of the Flies with an off-the-cuff naturalism, seeming to record a spontaneous eruption of its characters' ids. The result is a rattling masterpiece, as provocative as its source material."

Themes. Lord of the Flies Study Guide by Homework Online. Lord of the Flies has more than one "theme," or meaning, but the overall and most important one is that the conditions of life within society are closely related to the moral integrity of its individual members.

The Littluns. "The so-called littluns are the boys who don't play a large roll in the novel. They are probably five or six years old ... Although they do not always comprehend what is going on around them, the littluns are important people. They are the ones who first see the Beast and are in constant fear of it, especially during the night. They are the 'rest of society' and often go with the flow and do what the bigguns are doing."

Lord of the Flies
Analysis of Lord of the Flies
Lord of the Flies, on the surface, may resemble any other children adventure story. Beyond its literal sense, however, it actually has a lot more to offer: it is an attempt to unfold the superficiality and fragility of civilization ...
To what extent can Lord of the Flies be considered a Marxist piece?
Why Did William Golding Name His Novel 'The Lord of the Flies'?
How Does Golding Create the Impression the Fire Has a Life of Its Own?
Analyse William Golding's choice of language during and after the killing of Simon. Why does the language use change?
The Beast in Lord of the Flies
How does William Golding show evil at work in Lord of the Flies?
Less Obvious Symbols in Lord of the Flies
Lord of the Flies begins with friendship and ends with violence. How does Golding present this change and what do you think is shown by it?
Read the passages in Chapter 3 where Jack and Simon are each in the Forest. How does the language convey their contrasting character and roles in the novel? Lord of the Flies is a thought-provoking novel ...

What is some of the symbolism in "Lord of the Flies"? (Note: What are some ...)
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
● First, the conch - a symbol of leadership, authority. Why? Used to call assemblies. The person holding it was granted the floor to speak.
● Spears - ability to hunt, provide, savagery, danger, murder. Why? Once spears were created, boys were then armed.
● Fire - rescue, warmth, hearth, comfort, light, food (cooking.) Why? Obvious. Fire has been a necessity and comfort since it was discovered.
● Pig's head on a spear - The Lord of the Flies. The Devil. Evil. Savagery in us all. Why? The boy hunters, reveling in their kill, stuck the pig onto the head and Simon, during an epileptic episode hallucinated the pig speaking to him, saying evil things. The dead pig represented killing.
