Board of Directors' and Executive Director's Message:

Thank you to our members and friends who contributed to the 2008 Donor Board campaign which raised $4,300. We thank the 173 volunteers who contributed 1,700+ hours in our Gift Wrapping fundraiser generating a record $20,000+ for the Older Adult Centre. We thank our partner Square One Shopping Centre for making this fundraiser possible.

Have you noticed the newly renovated Administration Offices? Thank you for your patience in February as we renovated. Congratulations to Anne and her team of volunteers for managing the administration duties so efficiently from a temporary location in the hallway while the renovation was on. You are amazing! The new renovation includes an accessible reception counter to serve our members better. We also installed a new barrier-free water fountain in the lobby.

We thank our founding partner, the Mississauga Central Lions Club, for donating $8,500 to the Older Adult Centre in 2009. That money goes toward capital improvements, Volunteer Recognition and the Senior's Information and Active Living Fairs on March 26 and 27, 2009.

Please note below for info on our Annual General Meeting set for April 16, 2009. We do have a number of Board of Director positions open, so please consider one of these.

Avgen: A New Fundraising Program

We’re pleased to present some exciting news about a new fundraising program for our Centre. It’s called the Avgen Gift Card Program.

If you are planning to purchase gift cards/certificates for any upcoming birthdays, special occasions or for your regular shopping, make your dollars do double, even triple duty! Purchase your gift cards/certificates from a long list of vendors and together we will generate a significant contribution for our Centre. Avgen carries gift cards/certificates from a large number of major retailers, including: Loblaws, IGA, Sobeys, Price Chopper, Foodland, No Frills, Zehrs, Fortinos, Canadian Superstore, Safeway, Canadain Tire, Home Depot, Home Hardware, BlockBuster, Swiss Chalet, Harveys, Wendys, Second Cup, Cineplex, Future Shop, Keg, La Senza, Longos, Pizza Pizza, GAP, Old Navy, Kelsey’s, the Bay, Zellers, Pioneer Petroleums, Petro Canada, Esso, Ultramar, Rogers Video, Sears, Shoppers, Staples, Winners and many others.

Avgen has agreements in place with all the participating retailers so that they can sell the gift certificates/cards to our Centre at a discount.
