Why are good programs cancelled?

Our programs can only run as long as we have a minimum number of participants registered in them. Therefore, it is very important to register for programs at least a week before the programs start.
Don't be disappointed, sign up early! In the event of severe weather, please contact the Centre at 905-615-3207. Please listen to the recorded message to ensure that your program will take place.

Board of Directors Update:

We held our Annual General Meeting on Thursday, April 24, 2008, in the Auditorium. The meeting was well attended and included a free lunch. Centre business was conducted including the election of officers and directors for 2008-2009. A financial presentation was conducted, highlights from the previous year were reviewed and the Centre By-Laws were updated.

Special presentations were made to our retiring Vice President, Lewis Lawrence and our outgoing President, Shirley Corbett. Lewis Lawrence has given 16 years of dedicated volunteer service to the Centre including being an instrumental member of the Steering Committee making him one of our Founding members. Our Board Room was named after Lewis in 1995 as a tribute to his commitment to the Older Adult Centre. Lewis received a President's Special Award and Lifetime membership to the Centre in 2007 when we celebrated our 15th Anniversary. Lewis will continue to support the Board in an honourary capacity as the Vice President, Facility Operations (Emeritus).

Shirley Corbett has been a member of the Board since 1997 and has served in various capacities including leading the Board as our President for the last 4 years. Shirley will continue on the Board as the Past President and has also been appointed as the Director of Travel for another year. During Shirley's tenure as President, she led the team to achieve great accomplishments including financial stability and major facility improvements. Shirley's leadership on the Travel Committee has resulted in many wonderful trips for our members and major financial contributions to the Centre each year.
