With June being Seniors' Month in Ontario, Meals is holding its Celebrating Seniors Giveaway as a way to keep nutrition top of mind. Hundreds of free frozen complete take home meal packages made specifically for seniors will be given away to seniors in honour of Seniors Month.
The goal of Heart to Home Meals is to give seniors the choice, convenience and independence to live on their own and reduce barriers to complete meals.
A recent poll conducted for Heart to Home Meals found the following results about seniors in Ontario:
● 89% say that the ability to live independently brings or would bring them happiness
● 62% say not worrying about meal preparation would make them happy
● 25% say they have faced a barrier preparing or obtaining a nutritional meal in the last year
"While it is great that more and more seniors are choosing to live independently, it is of concern for our company and other organizations who serve seniors on a daily basis that 1 in 4 still have barriers to nutritional meals," said Tim Turcotte, co-owner of Heart to Home Meals Halton. "It is our hope that the dialogue during and recognition of Seniors Month will keep nutrition and independence for seniors as a forefront issue in this province."
