The clean hydrogen is then burned to make electricity in a specially modified gas turbine, while capturing the carbon dioxide and sequestering it in depleted underground gas and oil fields or coal beds. By using hydrogen as a fuel virtually no greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are produced; the main by-product is water.
