CANCELLED

On December 1, 2019, Peel Regional Police announced at 11:11 am that the Mississauga Santa Claus Parade, which was scheduled for Sunday, December 1 at 12:30 pm, has been cancelled due to bad weather conditions.

The parade route will be open to the public at 11:00 am, so come and settle in at your favourite spot. Please dress for the weather and remember all the businesses on Motorway Boulevard will be open with complimentary hot chocolate, light refreshments, and full access to changing, feeding, and washroom facilities throughout the parade. Expected attendance: 20,000 - 25,000 people.

Come and rediscover the Magic of Christmas! Bring your whole family to enjoy this year's Mississauga Santa Claus Parade which will consist of over 75 Concept Floats, Marching Groups, Musical Bands and Entertainment Groups.

Letters to Santa: Bring your special messages for Santa and they will be mailed to the North Pole for you.

Since 2016, the Mississauga Santa Claus Parade has brought families and the community of Mississauga together to welcome in the festive holiday season. Presented by Erin Mills Auto Centre and the Mississauga News, the Parade also supports important local charities, such as the Mississauga Food Bank, United Way of Peel Region, and Habitat for Humanity, amongst others.

The Parade Route will officially start at the intersection of Dunwin Drive and Glen Erin Drive, proceeding southbound on Glen Erin, turning westbound onto Motorway Boulevard, and finally turning northbound onto Woodchester Drive. Total distance: 1.2 km. See Parade Route Map.

Info from Chabad Jewish Discovery Centre: Chanukah is the Jewish eight-day, wintertime "festival of lights," celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, special prayers and fried foods. Chanukah 2019 runs from December 22-30.

The Hebrew word Chanukah means "dedication," and is thus named because it celebrates the rededication of the Holy Temple. Also spelled Hanukkah, the Hebrew word is actually pronounced with a guttural, "kh" sound, kha-nu-kah, not tcha-new-kah. How to pronounce "Chanukah".

Giant 6 foot Hanukkah Menorah will be kindled. The celebration is open to the public. Will include traditional Hanukah foods, music and entertainment.
