OUELLETTE, DIANE RENEE 1957 - 2023 Obituary from Toronto Star.
"It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the passing of Diane Ouellette, who looked to find herself taken from us very untimely, at the age of 66. She was returned to God sometime in the morning hours of Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Diane will be most lovingly remembered by her son, William; his father, Greg; her aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, extended family and especially an extraordinarily large group of friends and family in God.
Born in Toronto, January 7, 1957, to Pierrette (nee Duquette) and Bernard Ouellette. Diane grew up in the area around Christie Pits, until moving to Mississauga in the latter half of her life. She looked to be as positively active a pillar of every community in which she found herself a part of. She was predeceased by her father, mother, and then, brother, Giles, all of whom she loved and admired immensely. Diane found herself memorializing them positively in many thoughts and actions of her life's living after their passing.
May God bless her path onward... and our sorry hearts upwards in her loving name and memory. Friends and family will be received at Turner & Porter, Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga, on Thursday, November 30th, from 5 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 921 Flagship Dr., Mississauga. Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Funeral details may be found at: https://turnerporter.ca/memorials. ~ Published online November 25, 2023."

Join Richard Jordan as he reveals the origins of Santa Claus.
The Secret History of Santa Claus - "St. Nicholas was a real-life Greek bishop who lived on the coast of Turkey in the Second Century AD.
This is the incredible story of how he transformed into the "Jolly Old Elf" who flies around the world on Christmas Eve, in a sleigh pulled by reindeer, delivering gifts to deserving children. We'll look at Father Christmas in England, pagan customs that became Christian and the modern commercialization of our folk traditions in this absorbing and wide-ranging presentation.
Richard Jordan is a former President of the Etobicoke Historical Society and a former Toronto Star local history columnist. His feature articles on historical subjects have also appeared in the Saturday Star and the Sunday Star.
The pictures show (left) the 'real' St. Nicholas, the Bishop of Myra in Turkey in the Second Century A.D., and (right) the modern image of St. Nicholas or Santa Claus flying on a sleigh pulled by eight reindeer and led by Rudolf, with his red nose lighting the way. How did this saintly man become a centerpiece of some of our annual Christmas customs? And would he even recognize the modern image of himself?"
