Opening Night Ceremony takes place on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 7:30 pm at the Hershey Centre - Main Arena Stage (inside the Africa Pavilion), at 5500 Rose Cherry Place, Mississauga ON L4Z 4B6. View Map.

This launches the 3-day Festival and is a celebration of all the countries represented at the Festival, depicting the cultural diversity of the City. Non-stop cultural entertainment throughout the Festival weekend is featured on the Pavilion Stages.

"Carassauga is an incorporated non-profit volunteer community organization, which will be celebrating its 33rd Anniversary in 2018. It operated for the first time in 1986 with 10 Pavilions, initially operating only on Saturday and Sunday. It was created in response to a challenge put out by Mayor Hazel McCallion to all ethno cultural groups at a meeting of her calling in the old City Hall in the fall of 1985. It quickly evolved into a 3-day, 22-hour event.

The Festival has become an important annual event in Mississauga's calendar, and its popularity has steadily increased in recent years. It is the largest multicultural Festival in Ontario and is now recognized as the second largest cultural Festival in Canada in terms of visits and ethnic diversity representation." ~ Info from Carassauga Festival of Cultures.

Once inside a Pavilion, you are surrounded by the sights, sounds and tastes of the country in which you are visiting. Each Pavilion depicts culture of the country of origin and provides a line-up of entertainment that is offered throughout the three days. Each Pavilion proudly showcases its arts, crafts, foods, entertainment and cultural history.

FOOD: Carassauga offers the delicious Tonnie Taste experience for Festival visitors wishing to enjoy a broader sampling of diverse ethnic cuisine. The usual delicious full meal selections will also be available.
