Guest-curated by Raven Davis. Presented by the Art Gallery of Mississauga (AGM).
"This project uses various media and mapping strategies to explore the complex colonial histories of the north shores of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, which include the cities of Mississauga and Toronto and the traditional territories of the Michi Saagiig (Mississauga) and the Haudenosaunee (Six Nations of the Grand River).
A member of Serpent River First Nation, Genaabaajing, an Anishinaabe Ojibwa territory on the north shore of Lake Huron, Bonnie Devine's work emerges from the storytelling and image-making traditions she witnessed as a child. Her art explores issues of land and environment, treaty and history. She is an artist, curator, writer, and educator.
Though formally educated at the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD U) and York University, Bonnie's most enduring learning came from her grandparents, who were trappers on the Canadian Shield. Bonnie's installation, video, and curatorial projects have been shown in solo and group exhibitions and film festivals across Canada and in the USA, South America, Russia, Europe, and China, including the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Berlin Film Festival, the National Museum of the American Indian, and Today Art Museum in Beijing." ~ Info from Art Gallery of Mississauga (AGM).

Bring a lonely senior on a GOOTH mission ... (Get Out Of The House).
Learn how to find and join groups of like-minded people.
Learn about our local food banks and volunteer opportunities.
Learn about the operations of Eden Food for Change.
"OUR MISSION: Eden Food for Change is committed to increasing access to good food in a dignified manner, developing food skills to encourage healthy eating and empowering the community through education, outreach and advocacy.
Eden Food for Change primarily serves western Mississauga. We serve people who live in the postal code areas starting with L5L, L5M and L5N.
In 2016, we served 2,802 people each of whom received an average of 34 lbs of food per visit, 51% of which was fresh food.
OUR STORY: In 1989, a few members of Eden United Church noticed there were hungry families in their church and in the community. It was in the fall of this same year that an informal food bank began. A place where people would donate food and hungry families could access food. In the spring of 1990, this became an official program at the church.
As time went on, this volunteer-run program continued to grow and in 2002, Eden Food Bank was incorporated and became an officially registered charity. While it continued to run out of Eden United Church, Eden Food Bank was now its own organization." ~ Info from Eden Food for Change.

Celebrate Culture Days at this community festival featuring entertainment, activities, food, and community groups.
In partnership with Cooksville Community Engagement Committee.
Back by popular demand, the Cooksville Community Engagement Committee is hosting the Second Annual Cooksville Festival of Cultures in the heart of downtown Cooksville at T.L. Kennedy Secondary School in Mississauga.
Last year, over 700 guests enjoyed lively music from around the world, participated in henna tattoos, puppet theatre, attended youth sports, learned about gardening techniques and painting classes. The "Cooksville Has Talent" show was the centre of attraction, where youngsters and seniors had an opportunity to display their talents.
The Culinary Walk also provided visitors with a tour and taste of Cooksville's diverse cuisines with 16 local eateries participating. The festival encourages and promotes art and music, through painting competitions, music shows and diverse live singing.
This FREE event is open to all and will continue to bring new and current residents together to learn about the many deep-rooted cultures of Cookville. Mark your calendar and come experience the Cooksville Festival of Cultures. ~ Info from Culture Days.

People of all ages have a great day visiting "The Little Village in the Valley," where they can find an old Ontario village, complete with a train station, a church, mills, shops, stores, and more. The buildings are actually large enough to enter and see displays of period clothing, tools, furniture, household items, toys, and lots more. Pose for pictures with the historically-themed surroundings, sample herbs from the garden, work the handle on a water pump, and talk to our volunteers to learn about days gone by. You'll feel like you've gone back in time to a peaceful, little village. ~ Info from
Event organizer: Terry Wilson
"I am a retired History teacher who has spent the past twenty years building a little historical village on my property. Located in Ontario's First Heritage District, Meadowvale Village, my village is a recreation of early times in the village's history. My village was named 'All-time Favorite Doors Open Site in Ontario' in 2011. I continue working to enhance the experience of my visitors, and recently hosted classes from local schools. I'd like you to see it too!"
