The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Square One Older Adult Centre has been approved for funding support from Service Canada, under the Canada Summer Jobs Initiative, to have a summer student work with us this summer. We are pleased to announce that Dhruv Nayyar will be returning to work with us after a successful summer as our student last year. Dhruv's title is Community Development Assistant.
The Board of Directors is also very excited to announce that Square One Older Adult Centre has been approved for funding from the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), "Aging at Home Strategy", to host a Telephone Reassurance Program for Seniors. This is in partnership with Peel Senior Link. The Aging at Home Strategy, endorsed by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, expands traditional health services that help seniors stay healthy and live independently in their homes. We are delighted to have this opportunity to support seniors in our community by providing reassurance phone calls. We will be developing and implementing the program over the next couple of months. Please contact us if you are interested in receiving this service or volunteering with this program.
Mississauga residents 50 years of age and older (spouses may be under 50) are welcome to join the Centre (1/2 price as of June 1, 2009) for $12.00 for the remaining 2009 Calendar year. Non-Residents may join for $14.00.
