Plot Summary from IMDb. "The Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl crossed the Pacific Ocean in a balsawood raft in 1947, together with five men, to prove that South Americans back in pre-Columbian times could have crossed the ocean and settled on Polynesian islands. After financing the trips with loans and donations, they set off on an epic 101-day-long trip across 8000 kilometers, while the world was waiting for the result of the trip. The film tells about the origin of the idea, the preparations, and the events on the trip. The "Kon-Tiki" was named after the Inca sun god, Viracocha, and "Kon-Tiki" is an old name for this god.
Heyerdahl filmed the expedition, which later became the Academy Award winning documentary in 1951, and he wrote a book about the expedition that was translated into 70 languages and sold more than 50 millions copies around the world. Heyerdahl believed that people from South America could have settled Polynesia in pre-Columbian times, although most anthropologists now believe they did not. Anyway he proved that it was possible by using only the materials and technologies available to those people at that time. The trip took 101 days over 4,300 miles across the Pacific Ocean before the "Kon-Tiki" crashed onto the dangerous reefs outside Raroia in the Tuamotu Islands on August 7, 1947. All crewmen survived, and the "Kon-Tiki" was taken back to Norway. She is now featured in the Kon-Tiki Museum." ~ Written by OJT.

Plot Summary from IMDb. "Based on Thomas Hardy's classic novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles, 'Trishna' tells the story of one woman whose life is destroyed by a combination of love and circumstances. Set in contemporary Rajasthan, Trishna (Freida Pinto) meets a wealthy young British businessman Jay Singh (Riz Ahmed) who has come to India to work in his father's hotel business. After an accident destroys her father's Jeep, Trishna goes to work for Jay, and they fall in love. But despite their feelings for each other, they cannot escape the conflicting pressures of a rural society which is changing rapidly through industrialisation, urbanisation and, above all, education. Trishna's tragedy is that she is torn between the traditions of her family life and the dreams and ambitions that her education has given her." ~ Written by Revolution Films.

Plot Summary from IMDb. "Gianni is sixty. He is retired but has not become lazy for all that. In fact he is a helpful fellow who gives a hand to all those who need one: shopping for his wife, walking the pretty neighbor's dog, and so on. Everybody likes Gianni, but is it for the right reasons? Doesn't his wife profit by the situation (she still works so it is only logical that Gianni do all the chores)? Isn't he subject to the excruciating whims of his rich mother?... Sure, everybody LIKES Gianni, but who LOVES him? Agreed, being kind to them, he is the ladies pet, but he does not attract them anymore. That is why, when his macho lawyer friend Alfonso blames him for not having young mistresses "like every other senior Italian male", Gianni, who is beginning to ask himself questions about what it is like to become old, starts chasing dames. ~ Written by Guy Bellinger.

Climate change affects different parts of Canada in different ways. Predictions indicate that Southern Ontario will experience more droughts and heavy rainfalls that can greatly affect ecosystems and especially plants. In Atlantic Canada, sea level rise, continuous coastal erosion and more frequent storm surges threaten the fragile coastal ecosystem. Professor Vasseur will describe some of the projects that she is involved with to examine the potential impacts of climate change on the human condition in Ontario and Atlantic Canada, and the actions taken to try to adapt and improve resilience of communities and ecosystems.
Communities along Canada's shorelines are already adapting to climate change. Dr. Vasseur will discuss how scientists, policy-makers and communities can best work together to manage ecosystems at the water's edge.

Please note the Sheridan Parking instructions below:
Unlike traditional pay stations, Sheridan's new, blue solar-powered 'Pay-by-Plate' pay stations use license plate recognition (LPR) technology to validate parking time. The pay station does not generate a time-stamped paper permit for your dashboard:
1. Park your vehicle in a designated parking lot. Remember to lock it (you won't have to return to place a permit on the dashboard).
2. Proceed to a Pay Station. Key-in your plate number and pay for the time you need.
3. Go! Proceed inside (no need to return to your vehicle to display a paper ticket).
For your convenience, parking time can be 'topped up' at any pay station on campus by re-entering your license plate number. Pay Stations accept VISA and MasterCard, and $1, $2 and $0.25 coins.
It is strongly recommended to have your method of payment ready before inputting your licence plate number, as the machine only allows you a few seconds to pay.

Plot Summary from IMDb. "As head housekeeper at a diplomatic residence in New Delhi, Stella serves up delectable dishes to a succession of Ottawa civil servants. But while she sets a divine table, some of her other activities are less above board. Through finely orchestrated duplicity, she skims inflated bills to pad her modest salary and raids her employers' pantry for her own "duty free" business. Each night, the devout Christian impishly prays to the Virgin Mary to bless her crooked schemes. The arrival of Maya and Michael initially disrupts Stella's routine. To her surprise, the wife is the diplomat while the husband stays home to look after their baby daughter. Even more shocking, he has designs on her kitchen! When Michael, a trained chef, discovers Stella's culinary talents, he asks her to be his guru and teach him the secrets of authentic Indian cooking. She warily agrees to this breach in master-servant protocol, and as the two begin whipping up mouthwatering curries and dosas together, her trepidation eventually turns to pleasure. Meanwhile, the beautiful and virtuous Tannu joins the household to care for the baby. Can Stella make her an ally in domestic subterfuge, or will the honest young nanny topple the kitchen kingpin? Determined to protect her turf, Stella plots her sliest and most ambitious ruse yet." ~ Written by Anonymous.

Plot Summary from IMDb. "For years, Earth is repeatedly attacked by giant monsters called Kaiju that emerge from a portal beneath the Pacific Ocean. The only effective defense is the Jaeger program, massive complex robots that require pairs of neural-linked pilots. However, as each Kaiju attack becomes more powerful and frequent, Humanity must change its tactics. To that end, former Jaeger pilot Raleigh Becket is reactivated as part of a desperate plan to destroy the portal. As Raleigh strives to heal his inner scars and help his new partner conquer hers, an intrepid scientist discovers a way to link to the Kaiju's mind to learn about them. Unfortunately, that proves a mixed blessing as vital information of both sides is inadvertently shared and the stakes rise for a final battle." ~ Written by Kenneth Chisholm.

Plot Summary from IMDb. "Sir William McCordle is a wealthy but uncouth industrialist-turned-aristocrat, with a large house in the English countryside, complete with staff. It is a world where everything runs in order - both upstairs, where Sir William and his much younger wife Lady Sylvia indulge in a very comfortable existence of shooting, dinners and parties, and downstairs, where the servants work endlessly under the command of the butler Mr. Jennings, and the house keeper Mrs. Wilson. Whether they like it or not, everyone knows their place. But a shooting party will change all of that, with friends of the McCordles and their servants arriving from outside to upset the order. And so begins a complicated tale of secrets, lies, deceit, betrayal, revenge, bitterness, hatred, money and love - and that's all before the murder." ~ Written by Scott.

Here we meet Boy, an 11-year-old who lives on a farm with his gran, a goat, and his younger brother, Rocky (who thinks he has magic powers). Shortly after Gran leaves for a week, Boy's father, Alamein, appears out of the blue. We are exploring the benefits of training your brain for 2 weeks at the Driving Cognitive Training Centre (DCTC), with an easy-to-use online computer program.
Complete 10 hours of driving-related brain training at the DCTC at the Sheridan Elder Research Centre or independently using your home computer.
Open to individuals age 55+ who are active drivers. An orientation session will be provided for all participants. Free parking will be arranged for your visits to the college.
For this project, you can complete 10 hours of training at SERC or at your own home. SERC can accommodate 3 people training at SERC so spaces will be assigned to the first 3 respondents who choose this option. We will be scheduling individual meetings with each participant the week of February 24 to 28, 2014 before training begins.
To assist with the collection of the information above, we created an online survey. Please click on this link and input your responses. SERC will try to accommodate everyone’s preferences and will email you back with your scheduled meeting time for next week and your daily training schedule.
If you have any questions or are interested in participating, please contact Paulina Camino at 905-845-9430 ext. 8617, or Email: paulina.camino@sheridancollege.ca.
(This project has been approved by the Sheridan Research Ethics Board).
In Partnership with Dynamic Brain, Brain Training for Everyone; PositScience, Train Your Brain. Supported by funding from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC/CRSNG).

Please note Sheridan Parking instructions below:
Helpful hint: Pay station and parking lot locations are mapped in 'location services' on SheridanMobile - Sheridan's free smartphone app.
‘Pay-by-Plate’ Parking Stations - no dashboard permit - just PARK, PAY & GO!
Unlike traditional pay stations, Sheridan's blue, solar-powered ‘Pay-by-Plate' Pay Stations do not require you to return to your vehicle to display a paper receipt on the dashboard.
How does it work?
1. Park your vehicle in a designated parking spot.
2. Proceed to a Pay Station. Key-in your licence plate number and purchase the time you need.
3. Go! Proceed to your destination. There is no need to return to your vehicle to display a paper receipt!
For your convenience, parking time can be TOPPED UP AT ANY PAY STATION on campus by re-entering your licence plate number.
Pay Stations accept VISA, American Express, MasterCard and $1, $2 and $0.25 coins.
It is strongly recommended to have your method of payment ready before inputting your licence plate number, as the machine only allows you a few seconds to pay.
VISITOR PERMITS - Visitors to Sheridan College’s Trafalgar, Davis and Skills Training Centre Campuses can purchase hourly, daily or evening parking from the blue ‘Pay-by-Plate’ Pay Stations, located near main entrances. Fees are $3/hour to a maximum $10/day to 3 p.m. or $3 max. 3 p.m. - 1 a.m. inclusive. Visitors are reminded to remember their licence plate number! It must be keyed in at the Pay Station in order to purchase parking time.
At Trafalgar Campus, Lot 3 is exclusive to Visitors. Students, staff and faculty who park in Lot 3 risk being ticketed.

Plot Summary from IMDb. "Ajami is an area of Jaffa where Arabs, Palestinians, Jews and Christians try to live together in an atmosphere that is - to say the least - electric. Omar, an Israeli Arab, struggles to save his family from elimination by a gang of extortionists. He also courts a beautiful Christian girl, Hadir, but marrying her is far from obvious. Malek, an illegal Palestinian worker, tries to collect enough money to pay for his mother's operation. Dando, an Israeli cop, does his utmost to trace his missing brother who may have been killed by Palestinians. Binj, Malek and Omar's Arab friend, suffers from being rejected by other members of his community for mixing with an Israeli girl. All of them will meet violence, most of the time ... with violence." ~ Written by Guy Bellinger.

Comment by a participant: "What a great time we had! The Bingo Program was very well run by professionals. There were four people from RAMA Gaming Centre who helped us with the Bingo games and answered any questions we had. They were friendly, cheerful, patient, and most helpful. The prizes were numerous and HUGE! The Bar Bingo was different. We listened to famous music and tried to figure out whose music or voice that was and dab the Bingo Card accordingly: Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, The Platters, etc. Thank you, VIVA Mississauga! "Ludiana-based Chand gets married to Brampton-based Rocky Singh Dhillon and re-locates to Canada, to live with him and his extended family, consisting of his mom and dad; brother Baldev and his wife, Aman, and two children, Kabir and Loveleen. From the honeymoon stage itself, Chand gets physically abused by Rocky, and despite of bringing in $20K in dowry, she is immediately hired as a laborer even though she is a graduate and her wages are paid to her husband, and is not even permitted to call back home. Tenants occupy the house during the daytime, and the entire Dhillon family usually stay put in a shopping mall. Things only get worse after Rocky brutally assaults her in everyone's presence after she gets into a physical altercation with her mother-in-law. She manages to call back home wanting to return back, only to face discouragement, as her family want Rocky to sponsor her brother, Gurpreet.
