9:30 - 11:00 am: Comparative Diets: Creating an Optimal Menu Plan
With Dan Zaharie, BA, CNP, ROHP
Every year, a plethora of new diet books hits the shelves; there are over 2000 known dietary plans available today to choose from. How do you make sense of it all? How do you know what and what not to follow? Comparative Diets provides information about the holistic principles of food dynamics and their application for optimal health and well-being. The effect of food on the health of both body and mind is considered from a much broader perspective than is usual today; we need to know a lot more about food than just its nutrient content.
By joining faculty member Dan Zaharie in this session, you will learn some basic principles of healthy eating that are almost universally applicable, considering biochemical individuality when building a meal plan; aiming for a net alkaline effect with every meal; how to do proper food combing; and some of the secrets of longevity diets.
11:30 am - 1:00 pm: Preventative Health Care: How to Naturally & Effectively Address Obesity
With Paul Demeda, CNP
Obesity is often attributed to eating too much and not exercising, or just the result of "more calories in than burned". These philosophies are short-sighted and don't address the real causes of obesity, which is why most weight-loss programs ultimately fail.
Some of what you will learn from this talk include:
● Why WHERE calories come from is more important than the amount of calories
● The key hormones that regulate body weight and how they get imbalanced
● Why obesity is NOT caused by fat
● Why soft drinks are devastating to body weight regulation
● The role played by emotions in obesity
● How toxins promote fat gain
● How to eat to drive weight loss
● What nutrients support healthy weight and appetite.
Join the Institute of Holistic Nutrition for this talk and discover the real causes of obesity and how to address them.

Plot Summary from IMDb. "An alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. Major William Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop-forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again...and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Vrataski take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy." ~ Written by Warner Bros. Pictures.

You clean your car, you clean the yard, you clean your house, now it's time to clean your inner house! Your body is an amazing machine. But like anything else ... it gets clogged!
As a society, we stuff ourselves every day all day, and too often it's with things that come from a box, a can, or plastic that really don't belong in a healthy body. Let's take a week to do some inner Spring cleaning. Launch the new season with a cleaner, lighter, peppier you. As you peel away each layer of congestion, a more youthful you emerges.
You are only at your best when your body and your mind function efficiently. When your car gets a tune up, it accelerates faster and gets better gas mileage. That's what you want, too! More energy, sharper mind, increased capacity to do whatever you want. If you could get it from a pill, you would take it. But in reality, there is no magic substitute for time and effort.
Let me guide you on a one week inner journey. Think of it as a make-over from the inside out. Your liver, your intestines, your pancreas, your lungs ... these are your closest friends and they are calling for your love and attention. Their renewal is your rejuvenation. Steve Meyerowitz, Sproutman, is the author of several books on health, diet, and nutrition including Sprouts: The Miracle Food: The Complete Guide to Sprouting, Sproutman's Kitchen Garden Cookbook: 250 flourless, Dairyless, Low Temperature, Low Fat, Low Salt, Living Food Vegetarian Recipes, and Wheatgrass Nature's Finest Medicine: The Complete Guide to Using Grasses to Revitalize Your Health. Steve is one of the world's leading proponents of sprouting, juicing, fasting, wheatgrass, indoor gardening, raw foods, and pure water. You can visit him at www.Sproutman.com.
